Rotary has worked with Ashton Kutcher, co-founder of Thorn, to address international and U.S. issues with human trafficking.  This is a global issue and is more prevalent than most Americans understand.  

 

Rebecca Bender is a survivor of human trafficking.  She does not look like what most Americans think of when they think of someone who was the victim of Human Trafficking.  Listen to her story.

 

 

Rotary has been working since 1985 to make polio a thing of the past.  More recently, Rotary has partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to provide funding to immunize children around the world, help those who suffer with polio and make sure no one else has to suffer the effects of this deblitating disease.

 

Worldwide, Rotary members and friends have donated over $1 Billion to provide education, immunizations, and healthcare to children and adults around the world, with the goal to wipe out this deadly disease. 

 

PolioPlus is a far reaching organization, which is part of Rotary International, and which is dedicated to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Rotary is a leader in the private sector, seeking to rid the world of polio. This crippling disease has plagued humanity for over 70 years.  We are now working with other organizations, such as the World Health Organization, The Centers for Disease Control and others, to expand our reach.  PolioPlus and Rotary are setting a standard worldwide as the strongest model of public-private cooperation as we pursue a humanitarian goal.

 

Bill and Melinda Gates have joined this fight, along with their foundation.  They match money raised by Rotary, so our efforts are multiplied for an even bigger impact.
