Bulletin for September 27, 2022
Since this last bulletin, we've had some great meetings! We had ten Rotarians and some of their significant others attend a presentation by the Ripon Historical Society on prairie restoration on August 18. On August 24 and 31 we had a speaker from the BRAVE program (we spent some time reading to kids at this afterschool event) and also Bethany Lerch who is a Rotary Peace Scholar.

Don Bork became a new member in August - welcome!

In September, we started the month with a social event hosted by the Mundells to meet Hannah, our Rotary Youth Exchange Student from the Netherlands. Our September 14 program was offsite and included a tour of the Little White Schoolhouse learning about the birthplace of the Republican party that took place prior to the Civil War around issues of slavery. Our next program was from the Ripon Area School District and we were informed about the upcoming school referendum and the current sources of revenue.
Committee announcements:
- Rotary Youth Exchange. The committee is planning a weekend to host all of the district Inbound exchange students Oct. 28-30 - watch for more info!
- STRIVE has begun meeting with students. Next meeting for the committee is Sept. 28 at 1pm.
- Board meeting will be held on Oct. 19 at 10:45am at Royal Ridges.

**Note that there is no meeting at Royal Ridges on Oct. 5. Instead, we will be supporting our arts culture by attending a presentation on that same day at the Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake at noon.

World Affairs Seminar Annual Campaign through Oct. 31, 2022:
This annual event for youth has been happening in our Rotary District since 1977. A week long camp involving tough topics like water management, social media, and global health engages youth through keynote speakers and group projects. Our Ripon Rotary club has sponsored fees for Ripon High School youth including our own inbound exchange students for many years. If you would like to donate individually to their annual campaign, please visit this website: https://www.nfggive.org/guidestar/39-1247797 or you can make a donation by writing a check payable to 'World Affairs Seminar' and send to: 10600 W. Mitchell St.; West Allis, WI 53214.  Please write the Ripon Rotary Club in the memo section.

Over 100 bulbs to plant at Rotary Square - thanks Bill Boutwell for picking them up! With help from new community volunteers, we hope to beautify both ends of Rotary Square. Much thanks to Adam Sonntag and Craig Tebon for making sure our planting spots didn't happen over power lines!
Our first volunteer to plant a bulb while Chris Worrall and Sharon Provenzano dig holes in the background. He is holding a sign with a QR code for our Ripon Rotary website to check back for photos in spring!
Liz Nevitt helping with additional plantings. We planted from 10am to 12:30pm when we ran out of bulbs. Big thanks to Lauren at Alexandria Games for asking us to participate in Fall into Autumn on Sept. 24!
