**Note that there is no meeting at Royal Ridges on Aug. 17. Instead, we will be supporting our local Ripon Historical Society by attending a presentation on Thursday, August 18 from 7-9pm at Ripon High School. The presenter is Neill Diboll, featured Wisconsin Public Radio and PBS speaker, plant ecologist, researcher, and restorer of native prairies, will share the story of America's prairie ecosystem, pre-settlement importance, near destruction, and revival today. This event is no cost to attend, family and kid-friendly, and will be held at the Ripon High School Auditorium.
Looking for a volunteer (or two):
Adam Sonntag has invited two of our members to attend the Parks Stakeholder Meeting on August 25 at 6pm at the City Hall. They have asked for the Ripon Rotary club to send 1 or 2 representatives that are interested in providing important feedback about the park system. Items to be discussed include a parks survey, park improvement projects, partnerships, priorities, draft concepts and more. If you are able to attend, please email Kelly Mundell at kellymun91@yahoo.com.
Walleye Weekend:
Thanks to all of you that volunteered for Walleye Weekend in June. It was the 43rd anniversary of that event. Attendance was estimated at 45,000 people and over $250,000 was raised for 36 area nonprofit organizations. And, in case you wondered, 2,332 pounds of walleye dinners and sandwiches were consumed! Soon, we will hear from Peter Sensenbrenner about the proceeds that our club received from this event.
